SEO Guidelines

Research:

Before writing the content, search your “target keywords” on Google and study the content of ranking pages on the first page of Google results and

  • Examine their content structure (headings, word numbers, etc.)
  • Try to add extra useful information to your content that no one has covered in their pages yet. Google embraces unique and fresh content.

Title:

  • Titles are the first elements that users will see when searching for a keyword, so they should be descriptive, clear, and attractive, to tempt the user to click through.
  • To be shown entirely in the google search result page, titles should be at max 65-67 characters long, but this number can’t be exact since every character has a different width.
  • The title should contain the “target keyword,” preferably at the beginning.
  • Try to add modifiers to the “target keyword” as it will increase the traffic, most popular modifiers are: best, top, guide, review, 2019 and so on.

Writing the content

  • Each author would have comment/suggestion permission to their own content file, once they finalize it.
  • The admins who have the write access will approve the suggestions.
  • Only the author of comments can resolve their own comments.
  • Pages should include at least 350-400 words, the maximum number of words is up to the author and what matters is the quality of the content.
  • Before starting to write the actual content, it’s better to have an outline to determine the structure of the page(examining the top ranking pages can be very helpful)
  • Structurize the content as much as you can, use headings, subheadings, bullet points and so on:
  • H1 headings are the most important one and also the first heading of any page, and it should contain the “target keyword; it also has to describe the content. It’s like the main headline of a newspaper article.
  • Use H2 and H3 headings depending on the content and also the priority and importance of the keywords in the headings and subheadings.
  • Try to keep paragraphs 3-4 lines long and break the long bulky paragraphs into more paragraphs but with less lines.
  • Keyword Density: Google never officially talked about the optimal keyword density but yoast plugin has indicators which measures the keyword density. Please make sure your content stays in the green indicator of yoast. Avoid over using keywords and focus on the quality and readability of the content.
  • Matching your content with the searcher’s intent should be a top priority so pay close attention to the search intent of the keywords you’re using in your content to avoid increasing the bounce rate metric of the page.
  • Use keywords synonyms to match your content with various types of search terms and to avoid keyword stuffing.
  • The author of the blog/page must ask the graphics team to design a featured image for the blog/page.

Description
