Image and GIF Requirements

Please follow these requirements for graphic designs

  1. The images and clips matches our logo and theme
  2. Please make sure the images that you’re getting from the internet do not have copyright issues.
  3. If you’re using an existing image from a different source, please specify the source of the image. Even if you edited the image, please specify the source of the original image.
  4. If your images or clips include people, please make sure to use both male and female, and people of different skin colors, ethnicities, and religions. One of our core values is diversity.
  5. The images/clips must be related to its surrounding text
  6. Size:
    • Please adjust the size of images and make sure they fit in their container for example they fit in the page properly.
    • The most ideal WordPress featured image size is 1200 x 600 pixels and these dimensions generally satisfy most WP blog themes. Different blogs (and more specifically, different themes) may have featured images with different sizes. Source
    • The image width should be the same as the width of the blog post content, using the golden aspect ratio for images(16/9, 1/1, 4/3), and it’s all about the website design that determines the optimal image size.
  7. Title:
    • Please choose an appropriate title. If you don’t know the title, you can pick the heading title of the section that includes the image.
    • The title must not include any capital words and the words should be separated by a hyphen, like (excel-tips-and-tricks)
    • Preferably 5 words or less, but it depends on the number of characters too; it’s better to avoid lengthy titles
    • Please make sure the title includes related keywords.
  8. Alt Text:
    • For alt text, please explain what the image is about and describe it. You can use a part of the blog content that is related to the image or write a descriptive text that explains the image.
    • It shouldn’t be more than 125 characters (less is fine).
  • Please make sure it includes keywords.
  1. Description:
  • The description can be like the alt text but longer.
  • You can add whatever information you want such as copyright, how you took the Picture, links etc.
  • Please make sure the description includes keywords.(No more than 10)
  1. Caption:
  • Explain more about the picture
  • Unlinke description and alt text it doesn’t have to describe the image exactly as it is.
  • It can contain extra information about the picture.
  • Appears under the picture.

Uploading Graphics to Google Drive

When you upload a graphic file to Google Drive, please

  1. Choose an appropriate name which describes the file. Please make sure the name of the image is in lower case (no upper case letters).
  2. Add a description to the file. The description must explain what the image or clip is about. This video explains how to do so. The description is used as the alt tag of the image.
  3. Please make a comment on the image and write the source of the image, as explained in this video.
  4. For any written document like a blog that has images, the author of blog or the graphic designer of the images must put images in the assets folder of the blog. Then they must include the link of each image in the document. This procedure is necessary because when images are inserted to Google docs, they get converted to Google docs. They must be individually saved in the assets folder.

Images/Gif Approval

  • At least two people from the review team must approve the graphics.
  • A person from the review team must verify that images do not have any copyright issues.
  • Images must be checked for copyright issues, and if their custom and prepared by the team, the quality and relevance of pictures should be checked.

YouTube Videos Approval

The review team must verify the video.

  1. At least one person from the technician team must verify the video, caption, title, description and tags, from technician perspective.
  2. One members from the review team must verify the grammar of the caption, title, description, and tags of the video
