Step 1 - Add Call Forwarding
First of all, add a call forwarding. I.e. pick a number that the toll free number will be forwarded to. To do so, please follow the following steps,
- From the menu of https://voip.ms/, select DID Numbers > Call Forwarding
- Click Add Forwarding
- Enter the phone number
- Enter a description
- Leave other fields as is and save
Step 2 - Registration of Toll Free Phone Number
To register a toll free phone number, please follow the following steps,
- From the menu of https://voip.ms/, select DID Numbers > Order DID(s)
- Select a country in the Toll Free Numbers section.
- Choose a phone number
- Select a POP server
- In the routing section, choose the Call Forwarding option and select the number that you set in the step 1.
- Click the “Click here to confirm your order” button
Step 3 - Deal with Invalid CallerID’s
Due to recently passed regulations, VOIP.ms cannot guarantee that outgoing calls with an invalid CallerID Number will connect. You will have to pass a proper CallerID Number. Otherwise, when you call the toll free number, you may hear “Your call cannot be completed as dialed”.
There’s also a workaround to assign a proper CallerID to similar calls. You will have to create a Duplicate Call Forward that is identical to your current Call Forward entry, making sure that you add a 10-digit CallerID in the CallerID Override field of the duplicate that you are creating. This is the CallerID Number that will be replaced on all invalid ID calls.
Then you need to create a CallerID Filter at DID Numbers > CallerID Filtering, that will filter “CallerID not matching the North American NPANXXXXXX format”, apply to your DID (or all DIDs), and route towards this duplicate Call Forward that you have set with an override, then save settings.
This workaround will ensure that invalid CallerID calls are filtered to the new Forward, have their CallerID replaced with the one with the override, and forward the call successfully.
